Diet or exercise?

I knew my online diary wouldn't last long. One day; pathetic. Must try harder.

Fat kids still in the news. The problem, it is declared, is that Kids nowadays eat too much. But is it? What did I eat in my youth?

Breakfast: porridge with sugar and full cream milk; fried bread, egg and bacon; toast and marmalade.
Lunch: school meal of meat and two (overcooked) veg; stodgy pudding (jam rolypoly, spotted dick) with thick custard (necessary to help it go down).
Tea: piece of cake, cup of tea or milk.
Supper: always cooked, something like bread and dripping (the fat left over from frying bacon and sausages), beans on toast, fish cakes or a homemade curry.

I wasn't fat. After breakfast I got on my bike and cycled three miles to school. If I ate that amount for breakfast now I'd have a job to stand up let alone ride a bike.

By today's standards I ate a lot of fat, but I rarely ate sweets and rarely ate between meals. I must have been more active than modern kids which is why I stayed thin.
